Botox and Injections

Frown lines and crow’s feet develop over time, often from the same facial expressions repeated again and again. The good news is that these lines don’t have to be permanent. Botox is a proven way to soften their appearance.

Evergreen Eye Center’s doctors offer Botox injections to relax the skin and restore a more refreshed look. If frown lines or crow’s feet bother you, Botox treatment can smooth them out and help you look and feel your best.

What Is Botox?

Botox is an injectable treatment used to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles and frown lines. It works by using a purified form of botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox works by relaxing the specific facial muscles responsible for expression lines. When those muscles can’t contract, the wrinkles above them stop forming.

It’s typically injected into the muscles that cause frown lines, crow’s feet, and lines around the mouth, smoothing them out for a period of time.

How Long Does Botox Last?

The smoothing effect of Botox is temporary. It lasts only as long as nerve signals to the treated muscle stay blocked.

New nerve pathways typically form within two to three months after treatment. Once they develop, the muscle can move again and the Botox effect wears off.

Botox can be repeated, so many patients maintain smoother skin with treatments roughly every three to six months.

What Is the Botox Injection Process Like?

Botox is given as a quick, in office procedure with little to no downtime.

Most patients return to their normal routine within minutes of treatment, though some mild bruising at the injection site is possible.

No anesthesia or pain medication is needed, since the injections are shallow and go just beneath the skin.

You and your doctor will decide together which areas to treat, then shallow injections are placed into the targeted muscles to reduce wrinkle appearance.

Afterward, you’re free to go about your day. Results are usually visible within one to three days and generally last around three months, though some patients see longer lasting results.
